Ransomware, How To Protect Yourself From An Attack

Ransomware is one of the most common forms of digital attack being used today against businesses. Even after paying the ransom 92% of businesses never get their data back and many of them end up having to close due to the loss.

Join us for part two of our special ransomware series with guest “Jimmy” who shares on this episode the top strategies for blocking and minimizing an attack. If you haven’t heard his story of successfully navigating two different attacks on his large sub-contractor firm please listen in here

Key Takeaways:

  1. Being ready for ransomware requires a three-prong preparedness plan. Make sure to have a shield to protect your company from attacks, a disaster recovery plan if that shield fails and backup drives if the entire system is lost.
  2. Protect your backups. Any backup you have is only as good as it is usable. Make sure that attackers can’t find your backup files and make sure your backup drives are up to the task if and when they are needed to restore your data.
  3. Build network visibility. If you can’t see the actions your data, your files or your users you are going to war in the dark. Make sure that you have the right software in place so that you can detect odd movements and behavioral patterns.
